The best approach is to connect them in series, that is source of one to drain of other so that the drain output voltage at any transistor is (Vdd-Vt).
On the other hand if the source of one transistor is connected to gate of other one and in this way the voltage at source of Nth transistor is Vdd-N(Vt).
